Name: Nasha
Age: 6 Years [adult]
Gender: Female
Alliance: Rogue [none]
[Appearance]
Nasha is a lioness of fairly average stature and height. Her limbs are sturdy and well-muscled, and her body is long and graceful. Her movements make it apparent that she is a lioness with some experience in life, and more oft than not she moves with a confident stealth. Her physique is rather square-ish in nature; where some lions might be described as "round" she is more "square." This is most evident in her powerfully built jaw and angular cheek bones. She is a mighty hunt'ress with the agility and strength to conquer prey as large as a zebra.
Nasha's pelt is short and fine, with relatively few distinguishing marks. Sure, she has her share of scars -- in the form of slender white lines on various parts of her body -- but none of them are large enough to call attention to themselves. They are the sort recieved from life itself; playing, romping, and roving. The color of the fur itself is best described as a "dusty" gray-brown that is relatively uniform over her entire figure. Only her toes are the slightest bit darker than the rest of her pelt, though that may only be the gathering of dirt over the years of roaming. Her maw and underbelly are lighter, and beneath each eye there are streaks of white, as is rather ordinary in any leonine. Her tail is tufted in ebony, which rings her ears' rims. Her nose is a dark pink in color.
Most capturing, and perhaps the only truly striking feature on the lioness's entire body are her eyes. It is not their shape so much as their color: they are a vivid blue-violet, a color that is rare and unusual. Yet, they do not sparkle and shine with happiness. No, they are often clouded with anger or sorrow, for she is a lioness who has lived a life harder than most. She is Nasha, born during the rainy season, and a warrior in her own right.
[Personality][/u]
Nasha is not a cruel lioness, but it should be noted that most that have met her view the lioness in a darker light. It can be said, too, that she deserves as much. She dislikes, but tolerates the male gender, for her own experiences have made her bitter toward them. She is not afraid of males, mind you, for her's is a hatred, not a fear.
Nasha holds long grudges and does not forgive easily. Her coldness has been taken as a darkness, and from this she has experienced fights -- so a few scars have touched her pelt, though, suprisingly, nothing extravagant. One would think a loner would have a few more scars. Nasha has been called "uncivilized," but such has only provoked her wrath. Speaking of which, her wrath is easily stirred up... but just as quickly gone. Her emotions can swing wildly, though she tries to keep up a stoic appearance where she can.
Despite all that has been said thus far, Nasha has a softness for cubs. It shouldn't be suprising, as she is a lioness. But her tough, cold exterior might've made others think she was incapable of gentleness or love. This is untrue. Though it is an emotion she rarely shows, it is certainly one she still feels and has known in the past. Nasha can be stubborn at times, but she is a good friend to have around. How loyal she really is to anyone is, however, uncertain. She would call herself loyal, but her own actions in the past have made her loyalty to any but herself uncertain at best, though one must give her credit for at least trying to be a good friend.
[History][/u]
Zene was destined to be queen of Mto, a pride of strange and cruel ideals -- for lack of a better description. She was to be mated to Jariki. Jariki was an outsider, and was as cruel as, if not more cruel, than the past king. Frankly, Zene disliked this, for she knew how other prides worked: they were kinder than this one. So the queen left her kingdom, and there met a rogue. His name was Tapansi, and his gentle heart and care-free nature won over the run-away queen. It was his cubs that she gave birth to just as the rainy season began. Her first child was a girl. Zene named the babe Nasha. It meant "born in the rainy season." Her second cub was a son, who looked very much like his ginger-colored father. She named the boy Jabari, "brave."
With the birth of her cubs, Zene knew she could not live with her pride. She had also met Jariki on Mto's borders, and knew that he wanted her to return and give him cubs. But she denied him, and told him the truth. In his rage, he attacked her. But Zene escaped to her children.
Zene would raise her cubs peacefully, without the care of the pride. But Tabansi, for all his goodness and gentleness, was afraid of being a father. Zene would see him here and there, and would occasionally recieve gifts of food from him... but eventually he stopped. Zene never saw her lover again.
So Nasha never knew her father. But to her it didn't really matter. She had her darling brother and her mother.
When Nasha was six months old, she, Jabari, and Zene strayed to close to the Mto borders. On that day, Jabari was murdered... and worse. His murderer? None other than Jariki. The King of Mto had once told them not to come near Mto. This, he claimed, was their punishment...
Nasha and Zene mourned. Zene had lost her son...
...and Nasha had lost her only friend and brother.
After that, Nasha seemed to grow that much faster, at least mentally. She withdrew into herself, and became terribly quiet, except with her mother.
Two years came and went. It was then that Nasha decided a change would be best. Though she would miss her mother terribly, she knew they could not stay together forever. Nasha wanted to see the world.
So, she did. She found a pride, and there sought permission to stay. But her "uncultured" ways (for her mother had failed to tell her too terribly much about prides) soon got her into trouble. She attempted to feed before the king, or in some small, unintentional way disrespected him... and eventually it was too much and she was coldly cast out.
So Nasha went to return to her mother... but what she found was painful at best. Her mother was dead. Nasha decided that her mother must have tried to return to Mto, but she had been killed by Jariki. Blind with rage, Nasha darted into Mto and attacked Jariki. Her actions were foolish... but before she could obtain any permanent damage, the young lioness fled from the territory.
Nasha was bitter and angry -- she had lost her brother and her mother to that lion. She had never known her father. If her father had been there, her mother wouldn't be dead! But the bitterness she knew towards the male-kind was not so complete just yet.
For another three years she wandered. For the first two, she attempted several times to join her own kind. The first few she was thrown out of for the same reasons as the first. But eventually, she learned just how a pride worked... and she could blend in smoothly. In her second year, she had found a pride where she was relatively happy. But one lioness, the lead huntress, was bitterly jealous. For, you see, Nasha was an incredible hunter. She had honed her skills in the wilderness, and could hunt easily on her own... or with others. And so, the lead huntress felt that her position was threatened. The huntress devised a plan then, to turn the pride against Nasha. And how, exactly, did she do this? She murdered the queen. But she was clever, and made it to look as if Nasha had done the deed.
Nasha was there, yes. She watched, and tried to save, the queen from her murderer. But Nasha failed. When she attempted to explain herself, none would listen, and the head huntress' wild sobbing (which Nasha believed highly unconvincing... she wasn't sure how anyone could believe she was really sad) blocked out anything else she tried to. The king attempted to attack Nasha... but Nasha ran and escaped into the wild again.
As her third year of wandering ended, Nasha attempted one last time to join a pride.
She was five years old by this time, and had all but given up on the concept of love or happiness.
She lived for the thrill of the hunt.
But this time, she was proved wrong. Nasha did learn what happiness was, and discovered just what love could drive one to do.
The male she met was a wanderer, visiting the pride. He had known the king as a cub, so he was reluctantly accepted. Nasha fell in love with him... and, he loved her in return. Nasha's life was happy, even if only for a short time.
By the next rainy season, Nasha gave birth to three cubs... one stillborn, and then a male and a female. The male she named Jabari after her brother, and the female she called Jendayi, a name meaning "Thankful."
For a few short months, Nasha was happy. But as time passed on, a fear of failure filled her.
In the end, it lead to her running away from her family. Her cubs were left in the care of their father, for he could not find Nasha, and she did not want to be found. Eventually, the cubs would be left in the care of the pride they were with, for the father could not stay forever.
Nasha wandered once more, and as she put mile after mile between her and that pride, her fear of failure as a mother... her thoughts that the cubs would be better without her... was replaced with shame. She had just abandoned her little ones. The loves of her life. But, somehow unable to return, she travelled on and on.
Months passed, and her sixth birthday came.
Now Nasha wanders alone... broken, though not shattered.
